"You don't do that to a Jersey girl"

Thanks to Jenn who sent me the article on Biggio's response to his wife getting slapped by a fan at the white sox game:

"It's just unfortunate," Biggio said. "One guy just thought he was being funny and decided to slap my wife upside the head. I guess his misfortune was, you know, you don't do that to a Jersey girl. She chased him down and caught him. We are just going to leave it at that -- nice and simple. It's over with."

Back in the saddle

Okay, so I'm finally getting back into the swing of things, and figured I might as well at least say SOMETHING on this blog thingee before I completely forget why I started in the first place. You'd think that the time I've spent working from home would have been good for my blog, but instead I've spent my time unpacking boxes, yelling at the size of my kitchen and (today) freezing my butt off because our heat is not working. Since the boxes are almost gone, the kitchen isn't getting any bigger and the heat fixing guy is supposed to be here first thing tomorrow, I'm going to pull out the old standard happy list and come up with 10 good things about being back in good old NJ... or at least things that have made me laugh in this first few weeks...

1. Since I still have the MD plates on my car, I seem to get excused by people as being an out of stater when really I'm just driving like a Jersey maniac...

2. When at my job interview about 2 weeks ago, this woman with a horribly thick cawfee, tawking, mawl going accent said, "Where are you from? You have such a distinct accent."

3. The aforementioned interview resulted in a job. A full time job. Not my 10 hour a week consulting thing, but a real honest to goodness permanent position. AND because I don't have to start for a few weeks, I get to be calm and not have to job hunt.

4. The old college tradition of Christmas outlet shopping is getting revived... and with JV less than an hour away, this might actually be the BEGINNING of the times I'll see her instead of the one and only of the year. And because she is so awesome and sent me a fabulous mix of moving/nj/home songs, I will be singing the whole way to see her :)

5. Despite all the many years I've been away, there are still some inside jokes and stories that only the people I've known forever know about and even though I may not remember all the details anymore, sometimes a giggle across the dinner table is enough

6. One of my oldest (as in known for the longest time, not chronological age) friends made a FABULOUS dinner last night. I believe I may have heard BC mumble something in his sleep about me learning to cook like that...

7. Mom and I had a bonding shopping experience on Saturday, leading me to feel inspired and buy new boots on Sunday.

8. I get more time to hear Princess say "I take it" and yell my name when I leave the room.

9. One of my close friends from college who also was originally from NJ and moved south for college and after is now moving back up here.
and finally,

10. I already have my first trip to MD planned for less than 2 weeks from now :)
