50 things about Karchamb
I was reading through my old 85 things and found that much of it was outdated since we moved to NJ... So, here's the updated version, compacted and fabulous. If you need to know more than 50 things about me, you need to get a hobby.
1. Astrologically speaking, I'm on the cusp between a Virgo and a Libra. The older I get, the more I act like a Libra, meaning that I am less and less neurotic and more and more often looking for balance.
2. I actually read my horoscope pretty regularly, usually when something freaky happens, so that I can feel like it was karmically justified.
3. I read a ridiculous number of silly magazines and fluff chic-lit, but I try to sneak in a "quality" book once in a while, so that my education isn't wasted.
4. My favorite ever books are The Outsiders, Lamb, Bluebeards Egg, and Handmaid's Tale.
5. I have a wonderful family, both immediate and extended but I usually feel "out of the loop" around my extended family because they are more fun than me.
6. I am one of the most insecure people I know but I try to cover it with sarcasm and an obnoxious sense of humor.
7. I usually love or hate people right away and rarely change my mind, even with evidence to the contrary.
8. Drunk me often loves people right away who end up being jerks, but sober me feels too bad to blow them off.
9. I once hit a guy because he said that he liked me; his reason for liking me was because I was "soooo smart."
10. I didn't have a complex about being brainy when I was a kid, but I do now.
11. The only other time I have ever hit someone and meant it was in 8th grade; that was a guy who grabbed my a** at a CYO function.
12. That may have been the moment when I decided the Catholic church wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
13. I'm a liberal on just about all social issues.
14. I'm proud to be called a feminist, even when people say it as an insult.
15. I always tell people not to sweat the small stuff but I usually sweat the small stuff.
16. I have always been more of a relationship person than a hook up person.
17. One of the few people who truly gets me is one of my exes.
18. The other one is my bf Jenn who is the coolest girl in the world.
19. I like to Google people I haven't seen in a long time to see what they're doing. I'm amused when doing this brings up porn -- try googling my friends from college, “Randy Hummer" and "Kevin Hand"
20. I have a very weird sense of humor; my best friends all share or at least embrace that weirdness.
21. I'm a sports fan, which may be why I have lots of male friends.
22. I am often one of the loudest people at games; this is one of the few times I'm really really loud.
23. The other is late at night at bars.
24. I hate the idea of first kisses in bars. First kisses are too special for that.
25. I hate meeting new people, especially out somewhere. This is mainly because I hate small talk, since I'm not good at it.
26. I am awful about keeping in touch with people via the phone.
27. I hate writing thank you notes; this is not because of not being thankful but because I'm not good at it.
28. I love to cook and I’m pretty good at it, even though I don’t have a whole lot of time to try new things.
29. My new thing is making homemade ice cream.
30. I am easily embarrassed.
31. I sometimes try to fit into what I think people think I'm like, even if they're wrong.
32. I’m trying to do that less often and be more genuinely “me.”
33. My closest friends never judge me, even when they probably should.
34. I hate my job, but I think that the hatred comes mainly from the fact that it is not my old job, which I truly truly loved.
35. I still haven't ever called my father in law by his first name; I have known him for 8 1/2 years.
36. I'm freaked out by the unknown.
37. I deal with it by trying to plan out the next umpteen years of my life.
38. My planning rarely is even remotely similar to what actually happens.
39. The greatest calming factors in my life are my 2 cats. I often think about them in the middle of the day when life seems to spinning out of control; I don't care if that makes me a crazy cat lady.
40. I wish I was a more trusting person.
41. My obnoxiousness really is a cover for insecurity. My cynicism is genuine.
42. I have a bizarre love of the English language and hate when people misuse words.
43. My biggest reason for hating President Bush is because he says "NUCULAR."
44. I get crazy irritated when I hear people trying to act “smart” and using all the wrong words. It makes me want to hit people.
45. I miss where we used to live, in the middle of the Baltmore/DC metro area.
46. I love my new house, but I wish I could pick it up and move it out of the NY/NJ Metro area.
