Reasons to hate the internet

I had a lull in my day at work and decided to do a little internet stalking -- finding those who I haven't heard from in years and just seeing what they're up to. I decided to look up an old professor of mine -- I kept intending to stay in touch with her, especially after I found out that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, but for some reason never did.

Today, when doing a search on her on google, I found the memorial lecture series founded in her memory at her former place of employment. Talk about a shocker. Not that I believe that my staying in touch with her would have changed anything, but I would have liked to have told her how much she influenced me and how meaningful her presence was in my "formative" years in college. I can only hope that her more recent students were able to tell her how meaningful she was to their lives as both students and as individuals.
