People irritate me

I just got back from vacation.  Okay, so this is my fourth day back to work and I should be back to knowing that work (at least when compared to vacation) sucks.  But come on.  Sometimes, people just amaze me.

This morning, this woman came into my office to yell about financial aid.  Now, it should be explained that students come into my office to yell about financial aid on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis.  This is usually because, despite the fact that the priority deadline is March 1st, people want to know why their aid isn't already in their hands when they applied last week.

She is coming to talk to me about how "the financial aid office doesn't know what it's doing" because they say that the social security number we have on file for her doesn't match what she filed with her application for aid.  I want to yell at her "LEARN TO WRITE!  YOU ARE 40 YEARS OLD AND YOUR WRITING IS ILLEGIBLE!"  Instead I say, "I'm sure it was just a data entry problem."

She then starts reading everything on my desk and on my white board.  She asks question after question about how this relates to her.  She reads "Space Assessment" on a post-it on my desk and asks, "where do I go for this assessment?" and I respond, "That has nothing to do with students.  That is a staff issue."  Then she reads, "FinAid (training)" on my white board and says, "when do I get MY training for financial aid?" (very rudely, by the way, as if I was keeping something from her) to which I respond, "that has nothing to do with you.  That is a staff issue."

What occurs to me is that this is not only rude (why, exactly, is she reading my stuff?) but self centered.  What kind of gall does it take for you to walk into an office where you have been exactly once before and think "everything here must somehow have to do with ME" ??????

That is now my rant for the day.  So, shut up Brian Tobin about how I never write.   If I felt no pressure, I could wait until I could write happy things.  Instead, I write this crap so that I can say I wrote something and get you off my back.  Now I've got until next month, right???? ;)
